BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE

WHAT IS BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE?

As most businesses now operate on a national, if not global platform, the exposures attaching to the travel of directors, employees and their families becomes ever more frequent. Given the regular disruptions to even the best laid travel plans, and the political and social disruptions across the world, the risk associated with regular travel has increased significantly.

Whether the travel is for the purpose of visiting clients and service providers, attending networking, social functions, or training conferences there is an increased risk created to a business and their employees.

HOW DOES BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE WORK?

Although many online travel insurance providers offer single trip cover, this does not supply an employer the peace of mind of an annual business travel insurance policy offers.

When obtaining quotations for this cover the business will need to declare the estimated number of trips both nationally and/or internationally over the preceding 12 months. In addition, the number of employees to be travelling, their intended destinations and duration of the trips.

Cover is then automatically available to the employer and their employees without any need to try and remember to take out cover before each trip.

WHAT IS COVERED BY A BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY?

There are a number of available extensions available under these policies, generally providing generous sub-limits to protect your business. The primary benefits are:

  • Personal Accident/Injury, Sickness, Accidental Disability and Death
  • Medical Emergencies (including Emergency Medical Evacuation and Associated Costs)
  • Repatriation of Remains
  • Loss of Baggage, Deposits and Personal Belongings
  • Cancellation, Disruption and Curtailment Costs

POTENTIAL EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS

As is the case with any cover negotiated by a reputable insurer, many exclusions and limitations included within a policy can at times be negotiated. A few common exclusion with most insurers are:

  • Pregnancy Related Claims
  • Travelling against the Medical Advice from your Doctor
  • Pre-existing Medical Conditions (not otherwise disclosed and negotiated)
  • Age Restrictions

…ALSO PROTECTS YOU FOR:

As outlined above outside of the emergency medical evacuation, repatriation costs, the policies we negotiate usually intend to cover hospital stays, surgery, prescription medications and other beneftis depending on the cover.
